Beaufield Antiques started in a very small way in 1948 when Doreen Kirwan converted her
stables and Coach House, got her unfortunate family to make and serve cookies,with coffee and
antiques from 8pm to 11pm nightly, and enjoyed her glorious and favourite occupation of going
to auctions and buying whatever she fancied.
Her fancies were eclectic but also selective, and the public loved it all;
Her daughter, Jill Cox now runs the show, and the Antique shop is, since 1972, an active member
of the Irish Antique Dealers' Association.
They run regular Art exhibitions for living artists. Works in oils,watercolours,textiles, mixed
medias and occasional sculptures.
They are always interested in hearing of new talent.
They run Exhibitions of Irish Glass, a speciality of the house.
Their "Sourcing Service" has simplified the quest for particular antiques.
